Hospital Demanded a Deposit / Refused Emergency Care
A hospital or clinic demanded a deposit or advance payment before giving basic emergency care, or refused/failed to treat an emergency or serious case. This is prohibited by the Anti-Hospital Deposit Law (RA 10932, amending RA 8344): staff face imprisonment and/or a โฑ100,000โโฑ300,000 fine, the responsible director/officer โฑ500,000โโฑ1,000,000 and 4โ6 years, and the hospital's license is revoked after three violations. Complaints are filed with the DOH Health Facilities Oversight Board under the HFSRB (RA 10932 ยง6).
