Are GCash and Maya cash-in and cash-out fees disclosed, or can they surprise me?

Short answer
They must be disclosed before you confirm the transaction. Under RA 11765 (2022) and BSP Circular 1160, a BSP-supervised e-money issuer must give clear, transparent pricing so you know the fee before you agree โ you have the right to see any cash-in, cash-out, or transfer charge up front. Many cash-in channels are free while some over-the-counter or cash-out partners add a fee; whatever it is, it has to be shown, not sprung on you afterward. If you were charged an undisclosed fee, that is a disclosure and redress issue: demand it back from the provider's consumer-assistance channel, and escalate to the BSP under Circular 1169 if it is not resolved.

Frequently asked
Can a cash-out partner charge me a fee?
Yes, some do, but it must be disclosed before you complete the cash-out. An undisclosed deduction is what you can dispute.
The app charged a fee I never saw โ can I get it back?
If it was not disclosed before you confirmed, demand a refund via the provider's consumer-assistance channel citing RA 11765's disclosure and redress duties, and escalate to the BSP if refused.
Is cash-in always free?
No single rule โ it depends on the channel. What is guaranteed is your right to see the fee before confirming.
