How do I get a PSA birth certificate (online or in person)?

Short answer

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) issues the official birth certificate. You can order it online for nationwide delivery through PSA Serbilis (psaserbilis.com.ph) or PSAHelpline (psahelpline.ph), or claim it in person at a PSA Civil Registry System (CRS) Serbilis outlet. You'll need the registered person's full name, date and place of birth, and the parents' names; another person may request it with your authorization and IDs. Pay the current PSA fee shown on the PSA site โ€” do not pay a fixer for a document you can order yourself.

Frequently asked

Can someone else get my birth certificate for me?

Yes. A birth certificate can be requested by the owner, their parent, spouse, direct child, or an authorized representative carrying a signed authorization letter and valid IDs of both parties. The PSA lists who may request on its site.

What if there's a wrong spelling or wrong birthdate on it?

A misspelled name or wrong first name can be fixed administratively under RA 9048, and a wrong day/month of birth or sex under RA 10172 โ€” both at the Local Civil Registry, without going to court. The birth year still needs a court petition.

What if the PSA says 'no record found'?

A negative certification usually means the birth was never registered or was registered late and not yet forwarded to the PSA. You may need to do late registration at the Local Civil Registry where the birth occurred.
